New WWE Match Type Confirmed: The Gentleman’s Duel

Following an earlier announcement that lacked specifics, the regulations for a new WWE match type have now been officially detailed.

During tonight’s episode of WWE NXT, the rules for the newly introduced ‘Gentlemen’s Duel’ match were unveiled in preparation for the upcoming showdown.

Lexis King, having issued a challenge to Oro Mensah under this unique stipulation, learned the match rules prior to their encounter.

Designed to emphasize traditional wrestling techniques, the Gentlemen’s Duel incorporates the following guidelines:

  • Competitors are prohibited from striking an opponent who has four points of contact with the mat.
  • Opponents cannot be thrown over the top rope and onto the floor.
  • Wrestlers must break when in the ropes by the referee’s count of three (as opposed to the typical count of five).
  • No fighting is permitted outside the ring.
  • Any breach of these rules will result in disqualification for the offending competitor.

Despite these stipulations, the match concluded without any disqualifications, culminating in a decisive finish. Lexis King triumphed over Oro Mensah in a straightforward contest, even extending a handshake and raising Mensah’s hand in a show of sportsmanship post-match.

Commentator Vic Joseph remarked that Lexis King’s recent conversation with CM Punk backstage seems to have inspired a positive transformation in King’s attitude.

However, Mensah’s puzzled expression suggests he remains skeptical about Lexis King’s newfound demeanor.
