A former WWE star made a memorable debut in AEW, securing a victory during the October 16 episode of Dynamite. Following the match, an exciting rematch was announced.
On AEW Dynamite, Shelton Benjamin took to the ring for the first time, going head-to-head with Lio Rush, who was accompanied by Leila Grey. Meanwhile, MVP provided support for Benjamin from ringside.
Despite Lio Rush’s determined efforts, Benjamin showcased his dominance throughout the match and ultimately emerged victorious.
After the conclusion of the match, MVP took to the microphone to deliver a message to Swerve Strickland, stating that Rush’s defeat at the hands of Benjamin served as a glimpse into Strickland’s future. MVP also emphasized Benjamin’s reputation by referring to him as the “Standard of Excellence,” a nod to his “Gold Standard” moniker from his WWE days.
Following a commercial break, Swerve Strickland responded to MVP’s challenge, asserting that he would be ready to face off anywhere, anytime, and by any means necessary.
Later in the broadcast, it was announced that Swerve Strickland would compete against Shelton Benjamin at the Halloween-themed AEW Fright Night Dynamite scheduled for October 30.
In related news, Bobby Lashley has reportedly signed with AEW. Although he has not yet made an appearance, he is expected to join MVP and Benjamin’s faction.
