AEW Crossover Match Delayed Due to Hurricane Milton

The United States has been struck by two hurricanes in recent weeks, with Hurricane Milton now causing significant disruption, including affecting an AEW crossover match.

Reports indicate that at least fifteen people have died as Hurricane Milton wreaked havoc across Florida. This disaster follows the destruction caused by Hurricane Helene, prompting TNA Wrestling to announce donation plans after their shows were canceled.

AEW’s Tony Khan has shown strong support for relief efforts in response to Hurricane Helene, as highlighted by AEW stars Adam Copeland and Dax Harwood.

Due to the chaos unleashed by Hurricane Milton in Florida, the highly anticipated AEW crossover match featuring Toni Storm has been postponed. Storm’s flight to Mexico to face La Catalina in CMLL has been canceled, along with numerous other flights.

CMLL announced the postponement on their official Twitter account, stating (translated):

“We want to inform you that due to the severe damage caused by Hurricane Milton, multiple flights inside and outside the United States have been canceled, including the flight scheduled for AEW superstar Toni Storm, who was set to arrive in Mexico to face La Catalina in an exciting hand-to-hand match. Despite this situation, we want to assure you that the match between Toni Storm and La Catalina will not be canceled but rather postponed to a future date that will be announced in the coming days. We are working hard with all parties involved to coordinate a new date that allows our fans to enjoy this long-awaited match.

“We regret any inconvenience this rescheduling may cause and appreciate your understanding and continued support. We will keep our beloved fans informed through our official channels about any additional developments.”

Earlier this month, Storm returned to Stardom in Japan, facing Mayu Iwatani for her IWGP Women’s Championship. Storm has not appeared in an AEW ring since All In on August 25 in London, England, where she lost the AEW Women’s Championship to Mariah May.

The former AEW Women’s Champion shared her reaction to the mention of May’s name by Mina Shirakawa, noting the trio’s friendship.

The current AEW Women’s Champion is set to face Willow Nightingale at AEW WrestleDream on October 12, 2024.
