Defending champions Australia have made a crucial adjustment to their T20 World Cup squad, bringing in all-rounder Heather Graham to replace the injured Tayla Vlaeminck. Vlaeminck dislocated her shoulder during Australia’s Group A match against Pakistan on Friday. The injury occurred just four balls into the game when she awkwardly landed on her shoulder after her knee hit the turf during a slide.
This setback marks yet another unfortunate injury for the 25-year-old Vlaeminck, whose career has been plagued by fitness issues. Notably, this match was only her second appearance in a T20 World Cup, with her first being six years ago in the West Indies.
Heather Graham, who has been called up as her replacement, has played in just five T20 Internationals for Australia. Her most recent appearance was against New Zealand in Mackay last month during the World Cup preparations. Prior to that, Graham showcased her skills with the Trent Rockets in the Women’s Hundred, where she took 9 wickets in 8 games at an economy rate of 6.88 and scored 104 runs with a striking rate of 160.
