Former WWE Stars Shelton Benjamin and Lio Rush Set for AEW Debut Match

After a backstage encounter escalated from friendly to hostile, the debut of a former WWE star in AEW has been officially confirmed.

The tension increased when MVP and Shelton Benjamin interrupted an interview with Lio Rush during AEW WrestleDream.

During this segment, MVP made it clear that Lio Rush would be available on Wednesday, revealing the reason for his statement.

In a match graphic released ahead of AEW Dynamite, Tony Khan announced that former WWE star Shelton Benjamin will make his in-ring debut in AEW.

Tony Khan tweeted:

“Shelton Benjamin w/ @The305MVP vs @IamLioRush

Following Lio’s announcement of his return to AEW, his segment was interrupted by The Hurt Syndicate. @Sheltyb803 will make his @AEW debut against Lio Rush on TBS,

THIS WEDNESDAY!”

Interestingly, this tweet marked Khan’s first communication since before the main event of AEW WrestleDream 2024, where a new champion was crowned.

Jon Moxley defeated Bryan Danielson to claim the AEW World Championship, signaling the conclusion of his full-time in-ring career.
