For the first time in over forty years, the Australian Ashes summer will kick off at a venue other than the Gabba. Cricket Australia announced on Wednesday that the Perth Stadium in Western Australia is set to host its inaugural Ashes match when England tours for the first Test of the 2025-26 Australian summer.
The Perth Stadium will join the ranks as only the eighth venue to stage an Ashes match in Australia. The first Test is slated to commence on November 21. In Perth, a city where England has managed to secure victory in just one previous Ashes match, the first Test will precede a day-night Test at The Gabba in Brisbane, which is scheduled to start on December 4.
The second Test at the Gabba will mark Brisbane’s third day-night men’s Test, following its earlier matches against Pakistan in 2016 and Sri Lanka in 2019.
Subsequent to the Test at the Gabba, the third Test will take place at the Adelaide Oval, followed by the traditional Boxing Day Test at the Melbourne Cricket Ground and concluding with the New Year’s Test at the Sydney Cricket Ground.
The Ashes 2025-26 schedule is as follows:
First Test: November 21-25, 2025, Perth Stadium
Second Test: December 4-8, 2025, The Gabba (D/N)
Third Test: December 17-21, 2025, Adelaide Oval
