All Elite Wrestling (AEW) is gearing up for a major shift in its broadcasting strategy, announcing plans to start streaming on Max in 2025. This move includes making AEW’s pay-per-view (PPV) events available on the platform at a discounted rate compared to traditional PPV purchases. However, there’s a catch: Max currently lacks the necessary capabilities for PPV streaming.
During a media call prior to the WrestleDream event, AEW President Tony Khan expressed his enthusiasm about this partnership with Warner Bros. Discovery. “Some of these aspects are yet to be rolled out, and I want to coordinate closely with Warner Bros. Discovery about sharing updates,” Khan said. “It’s exciting that once Max acquires PPV capabilities, AEW will play a significant role in their PPV offerings.”
Starting in early 2025, Max will also begin simulcasting AEW’s flagship shows, “Dynamite” and “Collision.” Khan believes this is a monumental opportunity for wrestling fans. “Having live viewers on Max is an incredible chance for us, especially with our library that now includes over 260 episodes of ‘Dynamite’ and more than a year of ‘Collision.’ It’s truly exciting to have our extensive content available on such a prominent service as Max,” he added.
Khan also highlighted the importance of AEW’s extensive library, which he believes ranks alongside some of “the best shows in television history.” While he refrained from naming specific shows, his confidence in AEW’s programming is clear.
Looking ahead, 2025 is shaping up to be a transformative year for wrestling streaming. WWE’s iconic show “WWE Raw” is set to transition to Netflix on January 6, concluding its impressive 30-year legacy on cable television. Additionally, AEW is reportedly in discussions regarding the future of its Friday night programming, with “AEW Rampage” or a similar show potentially finding a new home at Fox.
As AEW continues to expand its digital footprint, fans can anticipate an exciting era of wrestling content streaming that promises to enhance their viewing experience. Keep an eye on further developments as AEW takes this bold step into the future of sports entertainment.
